Dr. Hughes has been in practice for 22 years and currently resides in Greenville, SC. Since having her sister diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, Dr. Hughes has spent her medical career dedicated to being purposeful and intentional in the treatment of MS, focusing on a comprehensive approach of treatment that strives to increase the quality of life for every individual affected by a neurological disorder. Originally born in New York, Dr. Hughes grew up in a military family and lived in many cities across the United States. She has called the south "home" since entering into medical school in 1993 and currently resides in Greenville, SC, where she is the proud mother of one son, Alan. Dr. Hughes enjoys getting to spend time with her family and friends, and while she admits to being hooked on Pinterest, if she's not 'pinning,' she enjoys gardening, traveling and reading.
Dr. Hughes describes her professional career as being dedicated to building neurological resources. She founded and ran the Augusta MS Center for seven years prior to moving to Greenville. She worked for Greenville Health System for six years, helping to develop a regional stroke network, as well as, recruiting neurologists to the region, advocating for a Neuroscience Center of Excellence in the Upstate, and educating future physicians as a faculty member at the University of South Carolina, School of Medicine, Greenville.
